Catherine Therrien
After studying the International Baccalaureate Program and Communication, majoring in Cinema, Catherine has become a freelance director for several production companies in Montreal. She collaborated to the new media content of Cyberpresse, Ekorce Atelier Créatif and l’Équipe Spectra, among others.
Her first documentary, Borderline, questioning the impact of living in a village that sits on the Canadian-American border, has won the Jury prize for the best student documentary at the Cameleon Festival, was nominated for Les Rendez-Vous du cinéma Québécois and has been screened in several festivals around the world. She is now in the pre-production phase of a few documentary projects, from the addiction to telenovelas in Brazil to the dispossessed citizens of the collapsing mining industry in Quebec.
Her leadership with media initiatives and political involvement had lead her to be part of many youth delegations in international missions in Brazil, Cuba, Israël and Palestine. Throughout her creative mandates, she faced the challenge of connecting her social oriented projects and the new challenging distribution platforms; she developed a strong passion for new media and social entrepreneurship. She always seeks to more learning and exploring with the most inspiring people around.
